Our team of multi-lingual IP practitioners is drawn from a wide variety of technology background with training from both East and West. Many have post-graduate degrees. Dr. Jacqueline C. Lui

Managing Director

US Registered Patent Agent with B.Sc. in Agricultural Science and Bronze Tablet Scholar from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1981); M.Sc. (1985) and PhD. (1987) in Cell Biology from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Jackie started her intellectual property (IP) practice in Singapore has drafted and prosecuted patent cases worldwide for Fortune 500 firms, multinational firms, and publicly listed companies in SG, HK and abroad. Besides her own biotechnology specialization, Dr Lui also has considerable IP experience in the areas of materials science, internet, manufacturing; medical devices and mechanical and chemical engineering. Jackie returned to HK in 2000 and was former Head of patent registration at Wilkinson & Grist and Executive Director of Ella Cheong (HK). She joined Eagle IP Limited as Managing Director in 2005. She is involved in advising clients on IP-related matters including strategic planning, rights procurement, portfolio management, technology transfer, due diligence and enforcement.

Jackie is fluent in English, Cantonese and Putonghua Chinese.

Dr. Ho Chung Lui

US Registered Patent Agent, B.Sc. in Electronics, Chinese University of Hong Kong (1974), M.Sc. in computer Science, U.of lllinois, Urbana (1977), Ph.D. in Computer Science, U. of lllinois, Urbana (1982).

Dr HC Lui has been involved in research and technology transfer of both information technology and electronic devices. His past appointments including Director of Strategy at Kent Ridge Digital Lab of Singapore, and Associate Director of the E-business Technology Institute at the University of Hong Kong. He has been involved in research and development of a diverse range of products, including pattern recognition, soft computing, and RFID systems.
Dr Lui has extensive experience in patent drafting from his previous work. His working languages are English, Cantonese and Putonghua Chinese.

Mr. Yin Kay Hui

Hong Kong born Chinese patent attorney and Chinese lawyer with Bachelors degree in Political Science from Beijing University.

Mr Hui saw the drafting and implementation of the first modern day patent law of China and is one the first patent attorneys to be trained and qualified under the system. He is one of the founding members of Eagle IP Limited.

Ms. Susan Fentress

Ms. Fentress is presently admitted as an Attorney in the states of Wisconsin , Illinois and Tennessee , U.S.A. She is also a registered patent attorney. She obtained a B.S. in biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin (1983), and a J.D. from Marquette University in 1980. Her expertise includes patent litigation with the firm of Neuman, Williams, Anderson, Olson –as counsel in DuPont v. Phillips Petroleum Corp. E.I. DuPont de Nemours v. Phillips Petroleum Co. , Counsel, District of Delaware, patent infringement suit covering ethylene copolymers. Subsequently, she was Division Counsel for Baxter Health Care Diagnostic Division in charge of litigation and prosecution for this division. Representative cases include: Abbott Laboratories v. Baxter Healthcare Corp., District N.D. California (Paramax Chemical Analyzer); Baxter Health Care v. Abbott Labor, N.D. Illinois (Stratus Immunochemical Analyzer); Baxter Healthcare Corp. v. LKB Diagnostic (Patient Validity Action, Munich , Germany ).

She concentrates her practice in the area of patent law, both domestic and international. Susan's experience in the preparation and prosecution of chemical and biotech patent applications is extensive. She is particularly knowledgeable in the area of medical diagnostics, both immunological and DNA based testing, medical imaging agents, food technologies, agricultural products and disposable medical and personal devices. Susan is also knowledgeable regarding FDA issues relating to medical devices.

Ms. Fentress has recently present at the American Chemical Society on A Comparative Study of Chemical Composition and Method of Use Applications Among Patent Applications Filed in Canada, Europe and China and has published a paper in the Tennessee Business Journal on Patent Protection in China – Myth versus Reality.

Mr. Philip Scott Lyren

Philip is a licensed patent attorney in the states of Texas and Ohio , U.S.A. He obtained his B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Applied Physics and B.A. in French from Case Western Reserve University (1990), a J.D. in Law from Washington University School of Law (1993), and a M.A. in French from the University of Houston (2002). His expertise includes prosecuting electrical, biomedical, mechanical and software patent applications, developing corporate policies to protect intellectual property, providing advice regarding infringement issues, as well as drafting and negotiating complex license agreements .

Philip was a contract outsourcing patent attorney for Hewlett-Packard Co. for many years where his duties included reviewing and correcting IP work written by law firms, and drafting patent applications, responses to office actions, appeal briefs, etc. He has handled and/or supervised the prosecution of more than 1000 patent cases in U.S. and numerous countries throughout the world. Philip is a consultant for Eagle IP, providing legal advice and assisting in the supervision and prosecution of patent applications in all types of engineering and IT inventions.

Mr. Vincent Fong

US Registered Patent Agent, B.S.E. in Computer Engineering, and M.S.E. in computer science and Engineering (concentration in Hardware) from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor

Vincent's previous experience includes working for United States Patent and Trademark Office as a patent examiner in the area of processing architectures and instruction processing. Vincent also worked as an Intellectual Property clerk in a law firm, handling various IP matters related to trademarks, patents, and other IP rights. He is knowledgeable in various areas in Computer Science and Engineering including computer architecture, embedded system, digital testing, computer software, computer networking and E-commerce.

Mr. David Lee

US Registered Patent Agent, B.S.E. and M.S.E. (Electronic Eng), University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Dean's list for four years, and an Angell scholar in 2003.

While pursuing his undergraduate study, David was in Dean's list for four years, and an Angell scholar in 2003.

David has a wide area of expertise, including analog, digital and mixed signal design, RF applications, microprocessor design, digital signal processing and microelectromechanical systems. He is especially interested in biological MEMS technology.

Mr. Zephyr Su

B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2005) from University of Macau.
M.Sc. in Telecommunication from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

Zephyr has passed the Chinese Patent Attorney Qualifying Examination in 2009 and has experience in drafting and prosecuting a wide area of engineering and device patent applications. Zephyr is familiar with various disciplines in electrical and electronics engineering from electrical machinery to microelectronics. He is well-versed in next generation wireless LAN and 3G cellular network; especially in microwave engineering, low pass filter and microstrip antenna design.

Awards: Top Grade Prize from China's 9th Challenge Cup, Full scholarship for 4 years undergraduate study from University of Macau and Third Prize from University of Macau, Flash Competition.

Mr. Ricky Mak

Ricky's previous experience includes working for Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) in Austin, Texas in the area of process control for semi-conductor manufacturing. Ricky has also worked in a life-science equipment company involved in recommending technical solutions and providing training to customers on a wide range of life-science instruments including spectrophotometers, chromatographic equipment, genetic analysis systems and liquid-handling robotic systems.

Dr. Tim Huang

Dr. Tim Tianmin Huang. B.Sc in Virology from the Wuhan University, Wuhan, China(1985). M.Sc from the Institute of Virology, Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine. Beijing, China(1988). PhD in Cell Biology from the University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy(1997).

Dr. Huang’s previous research experience includes Cell Biology, Virology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Parasitology, Bioinformatics and Proteomics. Dr. Huang was a former associate faculty and instructor in the Proteomic Research Center at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York. Tim has also worked in the Institute of Virology (Beijing, China) on recombinant vaccine by genetic engineering; in the University of Bologna (Bologna, Italy) on Hepersvirus; in ICGEB (Trieste, Italy) on HIV and in the Albert Einstein College of Medicine on Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Parasitology and Proteomics. He has wide range knowledge and expertise on the captioned fields.

Mr. Stanley Ng

B.Sc. in Chemistry (First Class Honour) from The University of Hong Kong. D.Phil. in Chemistry from Oxford University.

Stanley has interest in various aspects of chemistry, including supramolecular, coordination and photochromic chemistry. He is especially keen on the area of nanotechnology and molecular functioning materials. As part of his doctoral research he is familiar with receptor design, multi-step organic synthesis and principles underlying the binding of substrate to host. He is also experienced with a variety of chemical characterization techniques including nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), mass spectrometry (MS), UV-visable spectroscopy (UV-Vis) and X-ray crystallography.

Stanley is the awardee of the Clarendon Scholarship and Overseas Research Students Awards Scheme which funded his postgraduate studies in UK.

Mr. Jan Wong

B.Sc. in Biotechnology (1998) from California State Polytechnic University Pomona, and M.Sc. in Biochemical Technology (2003) from Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Prior to joining Eagle IP, Mr Wong was a clinical chemist for many years in a local hospital. He also had previous working experience in product research and analysis for a food condiment company in the USA after completing his studies in California. His duties included liaising with the internal legal department and external government bodies such as FDA to ensure that products met stringent industry standards.

Mr. Kevin Chan

B.Sc. in Computer Sciences and B.A. in Linguistics and Economics from the University of Texas at Austin.

Kevin is familiar with various disciplines in Computer Sciences and Linguistics. He is knowledgeable in different programming theories and translation skills. His studies were focused in the area of Computational Linguistics and he has been involved in projects and research in automata theory, string matching, machine translation, speech synthesis and language parsing. His practice areas include computer software and computational sciences, as well as computer security, multimedia, computer networking and operating systems . With an interest in connecting computers with human languages, Kevin also assists Eagle IP in quality assurance and enhancement in the area of document translation.
